Renting Gains Ground as the Most Demanded Alternative

Times have changed. Younger generations are less interested in owning a car, prompting the automotive market to adapt and offer alternatives beyond traditional purchasing. In June alone, 35,551 passenger cars were sold in Spain—2% fewer than the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, renting has been gaining ground as a highly demanded option, accounting for nearly 26% of the market share, according to the Spanish Renting Association (AER).

Renting is not the only method to access a vehicle whenever you need one. Mobility as a Service (MaaS) redefines transportation as a service rather than a product, allowing drivers to save on ownership, maintenance, and insurance costs. In fact, a study by Stripe reveals that 42% of Europeans would prefer to consolidate all their transport options in a single app.

Businesses and small companies can also benefit from these flexible rental or subscription models. As services like renting and carsharing continue to expand, drivers have more freedom to choose the option that best fits their lifestyle.
