We aim to answer the most common inquiries and provide you with all the information you need to make your experience with Malco Rent a Car as simple and enjoyable as possible.
How do I pick up my vehicle in Valencia?
+-
We will assist you at our Valencia city office. Your booking confirmation includes clear instructions for the pick-up point and opening hours. The process is quick: show your ID and, after a brief formality, we hand over your car in a few minutes.
Can I modify or cancel my booking?
+-
Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the rental starts.
Can I reserve a specific vehicle model?
+-
Bookings are for a vehicle category, not a specific model. Tell us if you prefer a certain model, colour, or fuel type and we will note it; we will do our best, but availability cannot be guaranteed at pick-up.
How and when do I pay for the rental?
+-
Payment is made when you collect the vehicle if it has not been made in advance. You can pay by credit or debit card. The cardholder must be present at payment, although the payer does not need to be the driver.
Is a deposit required?
+-
Yes. The deposit amount depends on the coverage selected. At the Valencia office, deposits are typically released within up to 7 days after the vehicle is returned.
Any surprises when paying? What types of coverage are available?
+-
At Malco we are transparent: no shocks and no hidden fees. From the outset we quote the final rental price. With coverage that includes an excess (deductible), if the vehicle is returned with damage you must pay the excess for repairing our car, provided the damage was not due to negligence; in that case you must pay the full repair cost. If a third party is at fault, we refund the excess once their liability is confirmed. With zero-excess coverage, you do not pay for repairs even if you are at fault, unless negligence applies. Not covered in any case: the underbody and upper parts, tyres, or the vehicle interior. Negligence includes improper use such as entering a very low garage with a tall van, driving on unsuitable roads, refuelling with the wrong fuel, unlawful driving, losing the keys, etc. In such cases the coverage does not apply and the customer bears the full repair cost.
What documentation is required to rent a car in Valencia?
+-
For a one-off rental you need an ID card or passport, a driving licence, and a bank card on which the rental and deposit are charged and refunded. All documents must be original and valid.
What are the rental requirements?
+-
Be at least 21 years old and have held a driving licence for over one year. If you are 21–24, you may drive provided your licence is at least one year old and you pay the young-driver surcharge. No maximum age as long as your licence is valid and you can drive safely. Originals of your ID/passport and licence must be presented (expired documents, photocopies, and photos are not accepted). If your licence is not authorised for Spain, you must present an International Driving Permit together with your original licence.
Who can drive the car? / Can I add an additional driver?
+-
Only the people listed on the contract may drive. Additional drivers can be added if authorised by MALCO (extra charge applies).
Can I drive outside Spain?
+-
No. Vehicles may only be used within mainland Spain unless MALCO expressly authorises it.
Is the mileage unlimited?
+-
Except for certain rates, mileage is limited, but we are flexible. Tell us roughly how many kilometres you will drive and we will offer the best possible price. Our rates usually include plenty of kilometres.
What is the fuel policy?
+-
Full-to-full. Fuel is not included. We deliver the car with a full tank and it must be returned full. Otherwise, the missing fuel plus a refuelling fee will be charged.
Can I return the vehicle in another city?
+-
Yes, you can return it at any of our offices, provided you inform us in advance. This service carries an extra fee. Please notify us beforehand to receive return instructions for the chosen office.
What happens if I have a breakdown or an accident?
+-
For a breakdown, call the roadside assistance number shown in the contract; assistance will come to you. In case of an accident—whether or not you are at fault—you must complete the accident report (DAA) correctly.
What if I receive a fine?
+-
Fines for driving offences (e.g., speeding) are issued in your name and must be paid by you. If a fine is due to a vehicle defect (e.g., expired ITV inspection), it is addressed to the vehicle owner (Malco) and we handle it.
Do you have automatic vehicles?
+-
Yes, we offer both manual and automatic vehicles. You can choose when booking.
How much does it cost to rent a car in Valencia?
+-
Typically €25–€65 per day. At MALCO, unlike many others, the price already includes zero-excess coverage plus other services. Prices depend on dates, duration, vehicle model, and booking lead time, and may vary with the market; quoted prices are indicative.
