The Christmas season is upon us and throughout the Province and the Castellón Capital a holiday atmosphere prevails, with the centre packed with shoppers and party goers at the weekend, buying presents and out on their Company Christmas Bash.
The Famous Tascas are packed from Thursday’s onwards as revellers start off their Christmas parties at this traditional meeting place at the beginning of the night. Special events include; Christmas concerts, Christmas Markets, Christmas Workshops and entertainment for children etc.
The city Christmas tree and decorations are up as Castellón prepares for the Christmas holidays. Christmas in Castellón as in much of Spain, is based around the following important dates;
Christmas Eve (24th of December): usually starts at lunchtime with offices shutting early and the bars filling up before the traditional family Christmas Eve supper.
Christmas Day (25th of December): mid morning aperitivos with friends in the bars and a traditional family Christmas lunch. Some families give presents on this day although many wait for Los Reyes.
New Years Eve (31st of December): Large New Years Eves parties are organized with family or friends culminating with the eating of 12 grapes at the 12 strikes of the main city clock to bring good luck in the New Year.
New Years Day (1st of January): Traditional family lunch accompanied by a cracking hangover.
The Roscón or the Eve of the 3 Kings Day (5th of January): Traditional supper with family or friends including the famous Roscón a doughnut shaped sweet bread filled with cream or a type of marmalade. The Roscón also contains a king for good luck and a dried bean which generally means you will have to pay for the Roscón the next year.
The Three Kings Day (6th of January): is the traditional day when presents are given especially to children and yet another family lunch.
As you can see, it’s a long festive period of feasting and drinking with family and friends throughout the Province of Castellón accompanied, of course, by Castellón’s usual sunny weather and moderate temperatures.
Why not visit our Province this Christmas to live a truly special experience with family or friends.
